Once Upon a Time...
[/color][/left]Misery Estates wasn't always a broken down mansion on the outskirts of Ellsworth, Maine. It was actually once a populated town house in the 19th century, men and women scurrying to it for parties and affairs held by the famous English Duke, Lord Abel Miseréy. Built in 1843, it upheld high social class standards for many years, into nearly the early twentieth century.
Once time flew, so did the descendants of the lord's sanity. Disease was spreading like wildfire, things like yellow fever and pneumonia, and with men and women dropping dead every possible second, and the bells in the graveyard ringing as people were buried alive, the residence started to go insane. There were hundred of people, men, women, and children alike, jumping out windows and crying themselves into eternal sleep via poisons sold down and made in the, once luxurious, wine cellar. And only one man was left after this pandemic: Sirius Misery.
He opened his elders' estate as an Asylum years later, and it did well, in a sense, for many years. People went in, came out, and all seemed to be going in the Miserys' favor. That is, until Eleanor Elridge was admitted in 1943.
The late fall came and she was diagnosed with severe psychosis and dementia, not to mention various other diseases that hadn't even been diagnosable yet. They did experiments on her, trying to bleed the evil out of her and even taking to sticking her with various needles to push the demons in her heart out. Nothing worked, and she just grew more distraught and out for bloodshed. In 1947, she took to putting bottles of lighter fluid and placing them in people's bedrooms. The owners at the time, Tru Misery and her husband Derek, were relgious people, and thought the best way was to kill Eleanor in a far off town and burn her remains. Eleanor's response:"Why don't I just burn you?"
The bottles around her shattered spontaneously, and she took several matches and lighters to the floor. The whole building was consumed in flames, and everyone was killed in all a matter of a half hour. The firefighters eventually found the house and put out the fire, but no one was saved.
Now, people say it's haunted with, not only the spirit of Eleanor, but her fellow patients as well, innocent and devilish alike. The property and its remains lay atop of a hill, just on the outskirts of Ellsworth. People say it's possessed. People say there are low moans at night. People say you can sometimes see fire rising from the windows, or smoke from the chimney. Some even say that the air around it reeks of burnt flesh. But the only thing people believe is that once you go in, you're quite likely to not be able to get out. The question is: will you prove it true, or will you be joining the others? The question remains unanswered until your return. We hope you enjoy your stay at Misery Estates, and we hope to never see you again.
